An excellent product, support is exceptional. No question this is an excellent addition to the mariners choices.

The main problem is the app constantly trying to sell you maps, very annoying. Other wise its ok. Good for planning and measuring routes. I would not buy this again, if I could get my money back I would return it.
I have over a dozen nav apps on my iPad, along with at least two dozen other sailing related apps. Plan2Nav is, without a doubt, the worst of the lot... possibly the worst of all the apps Ive ever downloaded. When I first downloaded it, I couldnt get it to load without crashing. After several attempts to remove and reload, I finally gave up and sent an email to Jeppesen. Eventually (FIVE WEEKS later), I received a reply, suggesting that I "remove and reload it". (Yes... I did already tell them I had tried this.) After doing an iOS refresh, I was finally able to get the app to load, but it always crashed again in a few minutes. I eventually had to download a modified version of the app which did not use Google or Apple map overlays, which now allows me to run the app for as much as 5 minutes before it crashes... once almost 10 minutes! Im told that my problem is because Im using an iPad1, which has less RAM. But they dont tell you this when you download the app or buy the charts! I wonder why Jeppesen is unable to make the app run on the iPad1 when iNavX and Navionics can do so. And compared to these two choices, Plan2Nav stinks! Dont waste your money on Plan2Nav... purchase iNavX (a REAL navigation app) and "Plan2Sail" instead !! PS: This was the first time Ive had a bad enough experience with an app to bother taking the time to do a negative review.
Updated to latest version. Still get file check error after long download. Multiple crashes cause the download to be restarted several times. Someone needs to step up and let users know when a stable version is available.
I have been using Navionics and Garmin BlueChart and I like both, but am always hoping for something better. As a career professional pilot when I saw a Jeppesen marine app, I figured this might be "it." Wow! It is absolutely awful. The lack of features compared to the other two is totally unbelievable. I cannot believe that Jepp put their long-trusted name on this app. Its not worth my time to list the deficiencies, so Ill just warn others that Navionics or Garmin BlueChart are both excellent and dont waste your money on this one. Now, off to my boating forums to warn fellow members.
Seems to have many crashing bugs on 5S with latest iOS. If left running in background for more than a hour or so, guaranteed crash. Just panning and zooming, frequent crashes. This even with only the base maps installed. Unusable until these bugs are fixed. UPDATE: New version loaded today (1.4.0). This seems to cure the crashing bugs. However be VERY careful of in-app purchases. The screen looks correct, area looks correct, but after you enter your password it will ask you to confirm that you are about to purchase something entirely different than what you selected. I tried this for 5 different areas, after rebooting, etc. with exactly the same result. For example if you select US East Coast and Bahamas, it will ask you to confirm that you want to buy US West Coast and Hawaii. Could be an OK app, but they need to invest in at least a modest QA effort. Having customers do it is not good business in the long run.
When I upgraded it crashed at startup. Then I deleted and re-installed and problem was fixed. For commercial users & motor boats this might be a very good product. If you go from A to B. But for me who sails in rocky waters among islands I very much miss detailed info on rock depts in shallow parts of the map. For me there is a huge difference between a 2m that I will hit and a 4m that I can pass. Lack of detail might be related to C-Map. More detailled info I get in alternative map products.
Cant get distance(DST) bearing(BRG) or (ETA) to display when navigating to a waypoint.
App crashes often and is basically not useable. Made in app purchases and cannot complete downloads. Moving through app crashes app. Cannot find any help on developer web site other than what other users in iTunes Store are complaining about on same issues that still are not resolved after several months.
I have looked at a lot of navigation apps for the IPad and in my opinion this one is the best one offered. They have fixed most of the bugs it is now pretty solid and I like fairly intuitive. When I got a new IPad Air their support was helpful in getting my charts reloaded.
If i can to use chart in 5 day to test before buy
This was a cool app until the last update. I lost the charts I had just purchased and have not been able to get them back. The restore function seed to work but still no charts?? Update: Emailed Jeppesen and received response and a fix right away. App is cool again and great customer support.
This App is badly made and “ upgrades “ and communications about upgrades are non existent. The app lack clear communications on what updates are possible and which are not. It was only by contacting support I was told my map was to old to upgrade. Thanks a lot Jeppesen for wasting so much time and for asking me to pay full price for the map AGAIN. Both Navionics and Garmin has more up to date maps than these - and they look better - and work better. So until Jeppesen gets their support, map updates and app up to speed - STAY FAR AWAY
I updated this App and lost all in App purchased charts. Plan2Navs response was that ITunes does not allow the restore function to work and that I would need to repurchase the charts, they sent me a price list. Do not update your existing APP, and if possible do not use this product.
Updated to latest and now current and tides are in error! Dont they ever do internal verification? Search/Goto function appears to be working now. Last update- After 1 year of requests Plan2Nav finally updated their charts to reflect the actual current (arrows) data. Tide graphs are now correct also. Other issues still not corrected is the Search/GoTo function. BRG is displayed in Magnetic while COG is displayed in True bearings. The ETA is disabled (N/A) while DST appears to be correct. Navigating to a route is useless until this info is displayed correctly. The charts are from the C-Map library. Customer Ratings comparison for top IPad Marine Software. INavX 70% positive Garmin BlueChart 51% positive Navionics 64% positive Plan2Nav 31% positive Timely Software updates and internal verification is the main reason for the low positive rating with Plan2Nav.
Lost all my charts after updating, will not restore, instructed to re-purchase new charts. No way will I do that
A worthless app that does not recognize Day light saving time. Customer support is worthless. After 10 months of talking to the techs I called Apple Store and got a full refund.
After paying for application and two sets of charts, which were not inexpensive, I am unable to use the application because after the last update, the charts will not download. I uninstalled the application and when I try to install it again, the application wouldnt download.
I have had this app for over two years and, although it has great potential, if is a rip off and a piece of crap. Don’t trust anything it says- currents not trustworthy, tides not trustworthy, and etc. Worst of all is that now they tell me that I need to buy the maps again because they have had a price increase and so the maps I bought can no longer be upgraded- very unfair. The program has potential, but it crashes, is quirky, and obviously they are looking to tap the user for purchase after purchase. Oh, and the technical support guy treats people like they are idiots and then hides behind “there is nothing he can do”. Classic losers. Do not buy this app or you will ultimately be very angry you did!
