C-MAP Plan2Nav App Reviews

Dismal

Very upset with this app. After such a great write-up in Marlin Magazine, youd think it was worthwhile? Wrong! Crashed many times after downloading - never remembers the use agreement decision. Sure - took the money to download a map - but the map never downloads!! Probably a problem now with app store payment etc. Its almost like this app was never tested! Usually, I have great faith in downloading apps from the store - now, I will have to scrutinize at length before downloading another app. Apple - you really should ck that apps work before you sell them - Steve Jobs would roll in his grave if he knew this crap was going on!

Complete waste of money

If you really need to throw away $29.99 then this is the app to buy! I have used C-Map charts with Nobeltec navigation software on my boat for over 8 years... great PC application. However, the chart I purchased will NOT DOWNLOAD to my iPad so what I "paid for" was a FREE app without the ability to download the purchased chart! Called Jeppeson customer support - NO HELP there either. Dont waste you time or money on the charts for this app.

Not up to C-map

Thought it would great to have my c-map charts on my iPhone/iPad. Very unhappy with it. The times for tide charts are strictly GMT and not local time. Called Support and they were surprised you could not set local time. Do not think this app was well tested before release. Shame shame. Will have to rely on Navionics in future

Misleading

Enable GPS to see speed over ground? Exactly how do you do that offshore? What a friggin crock.

Bad, dont waste your time

I couldnt wait for Jeppesen to come out with Plan2nav. Bahamas is my main cruising ground and Explorer Charts are the gold standard down here, I wanted to have an iPad with Exp charts on it which they said P2N would have. Boy was I disappointed. Something has happen to Jeppesen. Its not the Company I used for 30 years when I was flying

Scam

I see now I am not the only one taken by buying this app. I can not believe they can do this to people. Do not buy

As bad as it can be

The worst app I ever saw. Dont bother, please

Surprised by the flack

Ive had Jeppesen software in my chart plotter for the past seven years and have been very pleased with it. Just bought and downloaded the East Coast chart and so far it seems fine. I havent had the problems that many of the other reviewers have had, and usually I run into problems right from the start. There is a user manual which I havent gone through yet, but nav charts always seem a bit complicated. Love the idea of not cluttering up my boat with charts. Im willing to give this a chance and see if Jeppensen fixes the issues.

Jeppesen App A Failure

As a C-Map user of many years I was quite disappointed with the iTunes app. I expected to find far more detail and photos. Navionics, while lacking photos, still does a superior job overall. Dont waste your money until significant upgrades are made.

Plan2nav

The overall app is a match for my C-Map GPS on the boat. It lacks some small features but is better for planning than my unit on the boat as the display is larger. It would be better if they provided some kind of instructions.

Boat Icon

Nice app. My only problem is not seeing the boat icon when cruising during sun light. Should be an option to change icon size and color. This almost make the app useless on the go.

Marine GPS map/plotter

The new update corrected all the bugs. The program works well and performed perfectly on yeaterdays trip from long beach to Marina del Rey.

Does not work with IOS 6

Jeppeson tech support told me that there is an issue with IOS 6. I finally got my maps updated but the "conversion" failed. Tech support said they should have a patch this week 19-Nov but may take as much as 2 weeks for Apple to make it available. Using iPad (WiFi) and Bad Elf GPS looks like it will be a nice solution. Would have rated 5 but for the fact of the incompatibility with IOS6 known but not advertised at the time of download.

Does it work on i06 ?

Any good news about the maps working on i06 ? Thanks

Great map

This app works great, but you do need to purchase the maps for your area.

Plan2nav

Seems that there is a critical issue with tidal current omissions. Two major current areas in the Northwest show no current indications. These are Deception Pass in WA state and Seymour Narrows in BC. These have very dangerous currents, as high as 12 to 15 knots. Plan2Nav shows no current info for these and other critical areas.

Download of maps

Every time I try to purchase a map it tells me in app purchases not allowed, whats up?

Tides Need Improvement

Weve been using Plan2Nav for one year for planning, and as a backup for our primary plotter with C-Map cards in the Pacific Northwest and Canada. Plan2Nav has worked well for this purpose. However, the presentation of tides needs improvement. As a minimum, the units need to be defined. For the graph, height appears to be in meters and the time appears to be UTC. Sunset appears to be Pacific Standard Time. Begin Twilight appears to be UTC, and is actually Sunset, not Evening Civil Twilight. Because of the issues noted above, we use "the tide book" instead of Plan2Nav for tide data.

C-MAP

Thankyou for given this app i use it when i fishing its very good app i like it. Thanks again

So So

Blue Chart Mobile by Garman offers a better chart product/resolution and Garman offers an IPAD Compatible Bluetooth GPS which picks up both the US and Russian GPS satellites making your IPAD cellular independent. Plan2Nav also doesnt appear to offer a seamless/on chart interface with Active Captain the way Blue Chart Mobile does. All in all its a good start for Jepperson but still a ways to go.
